I was licensed in November of 1995, so we’re coming close to my 30th anniversary. For almost my entire career, I have been representing injured persons or the family members of people who have been killed through the wrongful conduct of others.
I have nearly 30 years of experience working on cases just like yours. Unfortunately, I am also deeply familiar with the many different ways that people get hurt or killed. This lets me very quickly analyse the factors that led to the injury and the death and use those skills and that experience to help you and your family.
We have an office that’s staffed from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and also have operators and personnel who will take your calls at any time of the day or night. You will always have a way to get in touch with us, and you will be contacted again by the person you initially spoke with.
We also have software on our computers that allows you to text, email, and send and receive documents from us. You can do this through your smartphone, wherever you are, ensuring you can communicate with us at any time of day or when on the move.
Each of my staff has over 20 years of experience in the legal field. You get close to 100 years of legal experience working on your case anytime you hire the John Escamilla Law Firm.
We will work on your case as quickly as we can. To quote Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, “Justice delayed is justice denied.” We will immediately seek out information from the other party and their insurance company and begin negotiating pre-litigation.
Oftentimes, we’ll file a lawsuit right away and try to get a trial setting. Once a case is filed, it can take roughly 12 months to resolve. I push as hard as I can because I know that for each of my clients, coming to me for legal help is a result of one of the worst things that has ever happened to them.
And if we can work quickly and skilfully on your case, it can be resolved within that 12-month time frame.
The first thing that we’ll do is a thorough intake to get to know what has happened and what your background is. We’ll ask you for photos of you and your family in better times so we can help a jury understand what has happened and how the accident has impacted you.
The next step of the process is recovery, where you answer questions in writing and exchange written questions and documents with the other party.
A deposition is next, and we’ll help you prepare for the questions likely to be asked during the deposition and help you practice responses. Many clients walk away from deposition, feeling that it was fairly simple and not nearly as intimidating as they assumed it would be.
Mediation is next, where your attorney will represent you through a formal day or day-and-a-half of meetings (usually through Zoom) seeking to negotiate and settle your case.
If your case is not settled at mediation, the last thing you will need to do is come to trial and sit next to your lawyer and your legal team, and let us present your case to a jury.
I will make sure that you are prepared for deposition and court appearances. Most pre-trial hearings will not even need you to be present; I’ll handle those and speak for you. I’ll prepare you for deposition, go over questions with you, review your medical history before and after the accident, and help you understand which questions will be asked.
During depositions, you will be asked questions, and at trial, your attorney will tell your story for you and question you, as well.
I’ll make sure that you’re prepared ahead of time, understand what to expect, and are ready to answer those questions.
If you have any questions or concerns at any time during the court process, call your lawyer. Let us know what your questions are, whether those relate to treatment or conditions you haven’t been treated for yet.
We’ll help connect you with medical providers, help you manage housing and transportation, and anything else that you need on a daily basis.
If you have questions about what stage your case is in or how long it will take, call us. We’ll answer the phone any time of the day or night, update you on all significant events in your case, and make sure you’re kept in the loop as a client.
